What is the difference between a sole trader registration and a company formation?
When you register as a sole trader, you will have to inform HMRC that you are going to work as self-employed so that HMRC knows how to tax you. Please remember that this doesn’t register or create a business. As a sole trader you are running your business as an individual.
When you incorporate a company at Companies House it creates a separate legal entity which means that any creditors will not be able to go against you as a person but will go against the company.
